MUSIC MINISTRY

At University, the art of music is vital to how we connect to God through worship. We have many different ways you can participate in music at University. Whether you love to sing or play an instrument, there is a place for you in the University Music Ministry.

Choirs

Chancel Choir Rehearsal
Wednesdays |  6:30pm | Recital Hall (W208)

A diverse and dedicated group of volunteers who’ve had some singing experience in the past, but it is not a requirement! No audition is necessary. The Chancel Choir sings Sundays in worship during the 8:15, 9:30 & 11am worship hours in the Sanctuary. We ask that you commit to singing at least one of these services each week.

Silver Bucket Singers Rehearsal
Mondays | 1:30pm | W211

A group of Senior Adults who love to sing all kinds of music. We are an outreach group, singing most often in retirement communities or for other senior groups. We practice every week on the South Campus in room W211. We take breaks around the holidays and in the summer.

Kids Choir
Sundays | Recital Hall (W208)

Our Elementary Kids Choir is open to all children kinder - 5th grade. Kids choir provides kids a more focused and intentional worship experience through music. Children are encouraged to participate in the first half of Traditional or Modern Worship at 11am and are then excused during the sermon to continue developing their faith through music. The perform in worship several time during the school year. Parents pick up their children at 12:15pm.

Other Music groups

Orchestra Rehearsal
Mondays | 6:30pm | Sanctuary

We're a mix of students and adults starting 9th grade and above. We love to use the gifts God has given us to provide music for worship on scheduled Sunday mornings and at special seasonal services. Rehearsals run from mid-September through May in the Sanctuary. High school students in this group can earn scholarship money for college each time they play.

Handbells

We have three adult handbell choirs, and while each of the groups sets its own schedule, they ring generally from September through May. They rehearse once a week on the south side of campus in room W202. Ringers need to have some ability to read music and rhythm skills are especially important. Ringers are placed in groups according to their abilities and their schedule needs. Each group rings in Sunday worship a few times a year and also shares their music out in the community.

SonShine Chimes
Wednesdays | 5:30pm

We are excited to make music with kids, teaching music basics and teamwork while enjoying the unique sound of handchimes. Weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:15pm. Email Linda Smith for more information.

Modern Worship Band

Every musician and vocalist that serves on the team is a worship leader! Whether by singing or playing an instrument, every member of the collective leads our church family in worship of our mighty God. If you are or know of someone who has an interest in being a part of the Modern Worship Band, please contact our Modern Worship Director, Wes Taylor to set up a meeting and audition.
